Our Directors
Princess Sobrinho
Founder & Executive Director
Princess Sobrinho is a second-generation Canadian of African, Hispanic, and Portuguese descent, raised in Scarborough, Ontario. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Intimate Sessions, a registered non-profit organization dedicated to creating transformative spaces for women to heal, grow, and connect.
She is a Registered Social Service Worker, community leader, mental health and wellness professional, trauma-informed women’s wellness educator, child and youth intervention strategist, and an Educator and Intervention Support Worker with the York Region District School Board. With over 15 years of experience across the non-profit sector, education, parks and recreation, housing, shelter systems, youth justice, childcare, and social services, Princess brings a deeply rooted, trauma-informed approach to her work.
Princess is a passionate advocate for women, youth, and children, with a particular focus on Black women and families. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology and is continuing her academic journey toward becoming a Clinical Psychologist. Her research explores the mental health, well-being, and lived experiences of Black women and families, with a focus on intersectionality and systemic impact.
She is widely recognized for her community impact, her ability to build meaningful and trusting relationships, and her commitment to creating safe, empowering spaces for healing and transformation. Through her work, Princess continues to lead with purpose, bridging gaps in mental health, fostering connection, and building community-centered solutions that create lasting change.
Princess’s work has been recognized through media coverage, strategic community partnerships, and ongoing contributions to research and advocacy within mental health and social services.
Her impact has earned her numerous accolades, including Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch (2024), the Women Empowerment Award for Mentorship (2024), nominations in three categories for the Strength in Healing Awards (2024), the York Region District School Board Excellence Award, the Russ Seltzer “Silver Fox” Award, and the Women of Inspiration Award (2024).
Through both her lived experiences and professional work, Princess has witnessed firsthand the transformative power of community, sisterhood, mentorship, and safe, intentional spaces. She is deeply committed to equipping women and youth with the tools, resources, and support needed to heal, grow, and reach their fullest potential.
Her work stands at the intersection of empowerment, advocacy, and scholarship, driven by a deep commitment to community impact and lasting change.

Sandra Anin
Director & Strategic Partnership Coordinator
Sandra Anin is an author, paralegal and Notary Public, and keynote speaker. Born and raised in the heart of Toronto’s Jane and Finch community, one of the city’s most stigmatized neighbourhoods. Sandra is a living testament to resilience, perseverance, and purpose. Despite the adversity surrounding her, she defied every statistic and barrier placed in her path, choosing instead to rise, excel, and inspire others to do the same.
As a Paralegal and Notary Public, Sandra is a fierce advocate for access to justice and equity within the legal system. As a keynote speaker and author, she uses her voice and lived experience to uplift others, especially women, youth, and individuals from marginalized communities, encouraging them to overcome adversity, embrace their self-worth, and pursue their dreams unapologetically.
Proudly of African descent, Sandra has always embraced and celebrated her cultural heritage, which continues to shape her identity and drive her passion for community advocacy. Her tireless commitment to empowerment and justice has earned her numerous accolades, including being recognized as one of the 100 Black Canadian Women Role Models for her outstanding contributions, leadership, and dedication to community development (2024), Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch (2022), and the 2025 Under-40 Youth Service Award Recipient.
Sandra Anin
Dorinda Afriyie
Director & Program Manager
Dorinda Afriyie is a dynamic community leader whose work bridges the worlds of gender equity, mental health, and human rights. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Gender & Women’s Studies, along with postgraduate certificates in Addictions and Mental Health and Human Resources Management, and a Diploma in Police Foundations. A combination that uniquely positions her at the intersection of advocacy, leadership, and service.
With extensive experience supporting individuals in both open and secure detention environments, Dorinda has worked closely with clients navigating addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges. Her trauma-informed and culturally responsive approach emphasizes empowerment, rehabilitation, and personal growth, ensuring that every individual she serves feels seen, supported, and valued.
Renowned for her authentic leadership, communication, and mediation skills, Dorinda fosters trust, collaboration, and understanding in every space she enters. Deeply committed to community development and inclusion, she continues to design and implement transformative programs that build resilience, nurture leadership, and create meaningful social change.
